RL Grime's 'Core' gets the wonk treatment from DEAD ROBOT

24-year-old Los Angeles native Christopher Garrett, aka Dead Robot, is the type of up-and-comer we love to see here at Gems & Secrets. Coasting off the momentum of his recent remix of the Swedish House Mafia’s Save The World, Dead Robot is showing us his more aggressive side with a flip of RL Grime's modern classic Core. With perfectly curated vintage samples, Dead Robot has added a depth to the song that was not present in the original. To compliment this, he has put his sound design skills on display during each drop in the track, with lead synths and fills that are arguably more wonky than those of Mr. Grime himself. There's nothing we love to see more than a remix that is equally original as, well, the original, and that's what we've seen here today thanks to Dead Robot. Be sure to follow this bass pioneer as he continues to blaze trails in the trap scene with his unique sound and creative spirit!

Get slapped by Karol Tip's huge new track 'Vicious'

Germany-based producer Karol Tip may not be as well-known in the US as he is at home, but his latest release proves it's only a matter of time before he's a household name all over the world. Vicious, out now on Munich-based independent label Crispy Crust Records, isn't the type of trap tune we hear every day. Starting out with a slow drone, Karol builds an ominous atmosphere that soon enters an intense buildup. All bets are off as soon as that wacky drop lead comes into play, resembling an unearthly cross between a tribal woodwind instrument and the barking of a rabid dog. But that's just my take on it - give the track a listen and let us know what it sounds like to you!
