Our favorite duo is back with a brand new single titled ‘Happier Now’. And yes, whenever we get new music from these legends we do feel happier, so there’s that. If you’re new to the name Cassette Tapes, these guys have been producing and writing a mix of indie and bedroom-pop style gems for a couple years now.

Originally from San Francisco but now based in Los Angeles, these two have really zoned in on a unique style that fans alike can’t get enough of. From the lyrics to the sound design to even their visual aesthetic, no one does it quite like these two.

"I never forget a fear, starting with my earliest visions of how I might go: falling into lava or quicksand, two scenes that the 90's video games of my childhood painted as fairly possible outcomes. I wrote this song at a time when I was experiencing such debilitating bouts of hyper vigilance that the simple act of leaving my home felt frightening: everything everywhere was out to get me. So many things could go wrong in a day: car accidents, shark attacks, lightning strikes, drowning, losing loved ones...

I go through periods where I pull every and any nearby fear into focus. The attempt to fit as many of these fears as possible into an upbeat production for "The Nineties" was a very deliberate act intended to help me view myself with a lighter heart, to take back some control, and to laugh in the face of my anxious habits.” — Luna Shadows

Released just last week, we’re absolutely thrilled to share the latest and greatest from Daniel Allan and Perrin Xthona with you. From the get go, we were immediately drawn in by the sharp lyrics and passionate storytelling. Complimented by warm undertones, the track blends a unique future-pop sound with a modern twist.

“Peanut Butter is a song about the ‘honeymoon’ phase of a relationship, where all you want to do is spend as much time with your new person, and you’re clingy in the cutest way. The writing on this track was partly inspired by quarantine; there’s nothing else to do this Summer, so why not chill together every day? It’s the perfect sequel to Insomnia… a version of the story where the late night thoughts and carefulness has turned into spending time together”
