Settle, a song by BAYNK, Sinead Harnett on Spotify

Our latest obsession comes from BAYNK's 'Settle' (feat. Sinéad Harnett)

October 15, 2018 by Gems Secrets in Electronic, Pop

WHAT WE HAVE TO SAY:

We recently had the pleasure of reviewing BAYNK’s latest release, ‘Settle’, featuring singer/songwriter Sinead Harnett, also known for her collaborations with Snakehips, Disclosure, Kaytranada, Ryan Hemsworth, and Rudimental… together these two artists deliver a wonderful and vibrant pop-influenced electronic gem.

The new song features a vocal style so exciting and so moving, it’ll leave pull you in immediately and leave you wanting more. Sinéad’s vocal work and writing style is truly a work of art. Her ability to portray her lyrics with such rich imagery is powerful and poetic. Elevate that and fuse BAYNK’s colorful and melodic production style and you have some of the most thrilling work we’ve heard all month.

It’s a great time for music and BAYNK’s latest is the perfect example of just that. Don’t forget to connect with the two artists online to stay up to date and don’t forget to share! Enjoy.

WHAT THE ARTIST’S HAVE TO SAY:

BAYNK details, "Meeting Sinead for the first time was like seeing a friend I hadn’t seen in 10 years. Catching up about what we’d missed over the years led to settle being written. I didn’t want to overshadow the touching vocal with intense production so I left it minimal and let the words dictate the music. Can’t wait for you all to hear it, Sinead’s voice is incredible."

Harnett adds, "The first day I met Baynk was the day we wrote settle. As soon as I walked into the room I felt like he was family. I always enjoy those writing sessions the most because you feel comfortable enough to open up. The story behind the song was based on the in between before you’re with someone and after you’ve started seeing each other. That dreaded unknown and the confession that you do want it to move forward. BAYNK’s clean heart translates in his music and I’m so excited for us to do more together!"

KOPS 'Salvation' is the catchiest song you'll hear today

October 03, 2018 by Gems Secrets in Electro Pop, Pop

WHAT WE HAVE TO SAY:

20-year-old multi-instrumentalist KOPS released their groovy pop tune ‘Salvation’ last week and if you haven’t checked it out yet, you’re really missing out. Not only is this release a gem for any follower of electro-pop or pop releases, but because KOPS is focusing more on his vocal delivery and vocal techniques to blend something new and exciting.

Sure we love the bouncy bass and punchy kicks but ‘Salvation’ is a burst of positivity and sunshine because of how well KOPS writes and sings. For fans of electro-pop, KOPS is making his way as the next big thing you need to know about. Don’t forget to subscribe to the artist online and enjoy!

WHAT THE ARTIST HAS TO SAY:

“I either spend a day or a year on one song. I love incorporating wordplays and use a childlike way to tell about love, death, depression, astronomy, and religion. To me, some of the most beautiful music in the world is the classical Hymns and that is where I get a lot of my inspiration”.

“To me it is centered around the feeling of powerlessness. When it’s always possible find someone to be with but nevertheless always feel alone. That you can feel on top of the world though still with the knowledge of being rock bottom. The feeling of knowing it all even though you just don’t get it. To feel so lonely that it seems impossible to ever be understood again”.

Like an astronaut floating aimlessly in space just waiting for the oxygen run out” - KOPS

Listen to Brika's melodic new single 'Taxi Man'

October 03, 2018 by Gems Secrets in Electro Pop, Electronic, Pop, Soul

WHAT WE HAVE TO SAY:

Brika released a catchy new record last week and upon hearing it for the first time we were immediately hooked. Brika has a hypnotizing sense of power in her vocal work. A sort of blend between dark pop and R&B or electronic music. It’s an exciting track with a production style that’ll accelerate your day given the exhilarating instrumentation and melodic soundscape.

For fans of R&B or electro-pop, we feel this track has something for just about anyone.

Don’t forget to subscribe and enjoy!

WHAT THE ARTIST HAS TO SAY:

“Taxi Man was inspired by an actual cab ride I took in Miami after a night out in Brickell with my friends. I was unexpectedly given unsolicited advice from a very wise old Bahamian man. His message really impacted me in a way that brought out dormant emotions of my past. I originally recorded him talking to keep for snapchat… But ended up using the actual recording in the song.”

'Selfish' by Jeremy Zucker out now!

September 30, 2018 by Gems Secrets in Electro Pop, Pop

ABOUT THE ARTIST:

Growing up in suburban New Jersey, 22-year-old singer, songwriter, and producer Jeremy Zucker, has always been surrounded by music. As a child, he took piano and guitar lessons and formed a band with two friends from elementary school. By high school, he was writing lyrics and producing songs for other people. Eventually, Zucker recorded a rough demo, which became his first real release ‘beach island’ in the summer of 2015.

From there, Zucker released ‘motions’ in 2017 and performed at his first sold-out show at The Studio of Webster Hall. Following the massive streaming success of his 2017 single ‘talk is overrated’ featuring blackbear, 2018’s intensely personal EP glisten delivered the groundbreaking song ‘all the kids are depressed’, the first widespread glimpse into Zucker’s songwriting ethos.

WHAT WE HAVE TO SAY:

Titled ‘Selfish’, the new single features an upbeat melody with a strong theme of falling in love, but realizing it isn’t all that you’d thought it would be and those gut-wrenching steps that follow when you have to let go of your special someone in order to become a better version of yourself—Hmmm relatable? We think so, too.

Zucker’s music is for anyone who enjoys letting their hair down to relax, or drive you to sing and dance along.

Turn up the volume and enjoy :)

jeremy zucker.jpg

WHAT THE ARTIST HAS TO SAY:

“For me the music is about the feeling and connecting with individuals than addressing a widespread topic,” he explains. Always from the heart, the songs take you on a journey that speak to the fans, yet still remain at the core of Jeremy Zucker’s identity. “That’s what makes my music unique, I don’t listen to it thinking ‘is this what people are gonna think is dope?’” he says. “It’s like no, it’s what I think is dope. That’s my compass.”

VCATION's follow up to their big debut is exactly what you need right now

September 26, 2018 by Gems Secrets in Electronic, EDM, Pop

Honestly, at first listen you probably wouldn’t realize how much you needed this in your life, but it happens to us all. Eventually you come across a song that you never thought you would love to death but yet, here we are…

VCATION, the brain behind some of your favorite dance music releases such as Swedish House Mafia’s ‘Don’t You Worry Child’ or ‘Save The World’— the songwriters are behind some of the biggest dance hits in the last decade. Artists like Martin Garrix, Tiesto, David Guetta, and Avicii.

‘When We Were Gold’ is an exciting new track that thrives off of classic dance music sound design with a blend of melodic pop production and flawless instrumentation. It’s honestly insane how catchy this song is and how much it’ll grow on you.

So whether you’re looking for a quick pick me up or your new gym pumping anthem, go ahead and give this a spin and let us know what you think. Don’t forget to subscribe and enjoy!

Love this? Check out their debut single here.

WHAT THE ARTIST HAS TO SAY:

“When We Were Gold” is like a nostalgic postcard from golden times. You know how old memories often fade, until only the shimmer is what’s left? That’s what we wanted to capture”

“The song - which actually was written on a grand piano in a large, empty concert hall - is inspired by late 90’s and early 00’s sounds, acts like Faithless. We wanted to embody that nostalgic vibe with trance-like influences and an energetic dance atmosphere.”

September 22, 2018 by Gems Secrets in Electronic, Pop, R&B

WHAT WE HAVE TO SAY:

Aire Atlantica released a gem this week featuring pop-vocalist Kyan Palmer and it’s absolutely amazing.

The two collaborate on a slower future-R&B styled track titled, ‘Five Night Stand’. Not only did we feel like it was some of Palmer’s best vocal-work yet, but on top of that, we couldn’t get over how catchy the instrumentation is.

Aire Atlantica brings a refreshing and youthful energy to his music that leaves you wanting more and more after every listen. If you’re looking for something to kick-back to and you don’t mind getting in your feelings… you’ll LOVE Kyan Palmer’s lyrical-imagery and sultry-like vocals. Pair that with Aire Atlantica’s light and melodic production style and you might just discover your new favorite song.

Feeling hooked already? Go ahead and check out the rest of the ‘Etiquette’ EP here.

Don’t forget to subscribe and enjoy!

WHAT THE ARTIST HAS TO SAY:

"Etiquette is a project that was created during my time living in California in the first half of 2018, and I feel like each song recreates moments in time and things that I learned along the way... In terms of this project, the songs were created while growing and refining with other musicians and sharing a love for a specific art... Each one conveys a different emotion, but all blend together and that's what helped the project come to represent this period in my life."

You're going to love L Devine's new music video for 'Peer Pressure'

September 15, 2018 by Gems Secrets in Electro Pop, Pop

WHAT WE HAVE TO SAY:

We’re going absolutely crazy over L Devine's new music video. Since the release of her debut EP ‘Growing Pains’ last year, the rising pop-star has brought her attitude-filled, melody-heavy strain of intelligent pop to the masses. Her catchy lyrics, polished production, and phenomenal video production style… L Devine is an artist you need to get acquainted with.

The video, directed by Emil Nava, is the second collaboration between the two creatives and this might just be their best work yet. See for yourself and let us know what you think. Don’t forget to connect with the artist online to stay in touch and enjoy!

WHAT THE ARTIST HAS TO SAY:

“The title Peer Pressure came first and then I was thinking about what that phrase means to me,” explains Devine. “I feel like it's such a general term used to cover so much, so with each verse I wanted to dissect a different aspect of it. It's about trying to be yourself but also wanting to fit in.”
