Revilla - Honesty (feat. Merv xx Gotti)

Hailing from the “Queen City” of Regina, Saskatchewan, Filipino singer-songwriter Josh Gonzales reveals his new alter-ego, Revilla, with the debut of his first single. Diverting from his acoustic folk roots, Revilla is Josh Gonzales’ experimental approach to contemporary R&B/soul. Enlisting under Saskatchewan’s Trifecta Artist Collective, Revilla aims to combine modern electro-R&B with eccentric, intricate lyricism. This lyrically-driven R&B approach takes influence from R&B/soul artists such as Frank Ocean, Gallant and Bill Withers.

Revilla’s debut single, “Honesty”, is produced by Mantra, and mixed and mastered by Chris Dimas of Surf Dads and Grind Central Records. Accompanied by vocals from Merv xx Gotti, singer of WCMA-nominated R&B/hip-hop duo DGS Samurai Champs, “Honesty” explores the sensual attraction induced by connecting at both an emotional and intellectual level. Using folk-inspired R&B vocals to deliver romantic songwriting overtop electro Rhodes synths and TR-808 percussion, Revilla aims to use his debut single to add fuel to Saskatchewan’s already exploding urban music scene.

Josh Gonzales is an impassioned community builder in Saskatchewan’s music scene and an active contributor to Trifecta’s Artist Collective. He serves as a member of SaskMusic’s board of directors, and has championed Saskatchewan music during showcases at music festivals such as Ness Creek Music Festival and Canadian Music Week. As Revilla, he is currently working on a 3-song EP.

Leo Nite shares dreamy new song "Crystallized"

'Crystallized' is the latest electro soul gem from Portland based artist, Leo Nite. The track's R&B feel reminds us of Drake or Homeshake, whereas the more electronic elements seem to draw inspiration from artists like Daft Punk, especially in it's use of vocoder and vocal samples. In contrast with the single's addictive rhythmic groove, Nite's ambient, reverb-washed vocals serve to elevate the song to an entirely dreamlike state.

Detroit born, Portland based Leo Nite (born Jonathan Holt) began working on music as a way to escape the rigid world of scientific research. His first two releases, Compositions and Goodnight From Channel 2, were born out of a desire to flex and express Nite’s creative side. Despite the lack of intention, both releases gained Nite a small following and gained critical praise within the confines of the blogosphere. Encouraged, Nite began working on his next project, Split, an attempt to reconcile his divided and often conflicting musical and personal background. Split deals with the feeling of being drawn in two directions and follows Nite on his search for a precious Crystal, a metaphor for something the world has labeled as valuable, but which might turn out be a hollow and meaningless prize. Drawing from the rhythm heavy world of R&B and Hip Hop, taking notes from guitar gods of yesteryear, all the while reveling in dreamy melodies and spacey soundscapes, Nite’s music is a truly unique combination not to be found anywhere else. New MADES is finally here!

Scottish singer and songwriter, MADES, released her much anticipated second single 'Long Road Home'. We covered MADES not long ago and featured her song in our TOP 100 and our Discover the Undiscovered Spotify playlists. We're huge fans of MADES and we can't wait to see what the future has in stored for the artist.

Following the release of her debut single, MADES’ music has been featured on music blogs in the UK, Europe and US where she most notably was described as “An all round force of Nature.” The song was play-listed by Disco Naïveté, Going Solo, Detour, and Amazing Radio, as well as earning her radio plays from Jim Gellatly, Scotland’s leading voice for unsigned music. Her self-directed music video was premiered on the Skinny as well as being featured on Promo News. Following the success of her debut, she is now due to release her second single ‘Long Road Home’ on the 22nd September.

MADES has spent the last five years developing her sound in four of Europe’s Capitals including Budapest and Edinburgh where she studied Fine Art before embarking on film studies in Berlin. MADES recently moved back to Glasgow and has been working with producer Lewis Gardiner (Prides). Defying a one-genre definition, MADES’ sound exhibits shades of electro, pop and indie. Opting for an acronym, “MADES” represents Musician, Artist, Director, Editor and Songwriter. Creating all her music videos and visuals, MADES stresses the aesthetic as a vital extension of each song’s story and meaning. Her second music video will be released in October.
