Have you seen Zaena & Jason Maek's 'Get To Work' music video yet? Watch it here!

October 01, 2018 by Gems Secrets in Conscious Rap, Soul, Hip-Hop

WHAT WE HAVE TO SAY:

Zaena & Jason Maek teamed up to deliver this chill, soulful, hip-hop gem titled ‘Get To Work’. After a two year hiatus, the two came back bigger and better than ever.

The new music video was directed by Jason Maek himself. ‘Get To Work’ puts a unique twist on the legendary Eddie Murphy's ‘Coming To America’. Jason Maek dawns the role of Prince Akeem while Zaena takes on several of Eddie Murphy’s famed characters as she plays Sexual Chocolate and reenacts the infamous barbershop scene.

We love the energy and the creative direction these two artists bring to their music and we can’t wait to see what they have planned next. Don’t forget to subscribe and enjoy!

WHAT THE ARTIST HAS TO SAY:

“I love remaking Coming To America for this song because sonically, “Get To Work” is classic and raw”, Zaena explains about the single. “Recreating this was awesome and I got to be three dudes. Can’t top that.”

'Selfish' by Jeremy Zucker out now!

September 30, 2018 by Gems Secrets in Electro Pop, Pop

ABOUT THE ARTIST:

Growing up in suburban New Jersey, 22-year-old singer, songwriter, and producer Jeremy Zucker, has always been surrounded by music. As a child, he took piano and guitar lessons and formed a band with two friends from elementary school. By high school, he was writing lyrics and producing songs for other people. Eventually, Zucker recorded a rough demo, which became his first real release ‘beach island’ in the summer of 2015.

From there, Zucker released ‘motions’ in 2017 and performed at his first sold-out show at The Studio of Webster Hall. Following the massive streaming success of his 2017 single ‘talk is overrated’ featuring blackbear, 2018’s intensely personal EP glisten delivered the groundbreaking song ‘all the kids are depressed’, the first widespread glimpse into Zucker’s songwriting ethos.

WHAT WE HAVE TO SAY:

Titled ‘Selfish’, the new single features an upbeat melody with a strong theme of falling in love, but realizing it isn’t all that you’d thought it would be and those gut-wrenching steps that follow when you have to let go of your special someone in order to become a better version of yourself—Hmmm relatable? We think so, too.

Zucker’s music is for anyone who enjoys letting their hair down to relax, or drive you to sing and dance along.

Turn up the volume and enjoy :)

jeremy zucker.jpg

WHAT THE ARTIST HAS TO SAY:

“For me the music is about the feeling and connecting with individuals than addressing a widespread topic,” he explains. Always from the heart, the songs take you on a journey that speak to the fans, yet still remain at the core of Jeremy Zucker’s identity. “That’s what makes my music unique, I don’t listen to it thinking ‘is this what people are gonna think is dope?’” he says. “It’s like no, it’s what I think is dope. That’s my compass.”

VCATION's follow up to their big debut is exactly what you need right now

September 26, 2018 by Gems Secrets in Electronic, EDM, Pop

Honestly, at first listen you probably wouldn’t realize how much you needed this in your life, but it happens to us all. Eventually you come across a song that you never thought you would love to death but yet, here we are…

VCATION, the brain behind some of your favorite dance music releases such as Swedish House Mafia’s ‘Don’t You Worry Child’ or ‘Save The World’— the songwriters are behind some of the biggest dance hits in the last decade. Artists like Martin Garrix, Tiesto, David Guetta, and Avicii.

‘When We Were Gold’ is an exciting new track that thrives off of classic dance music sound design with a blend of melodic pop production and flawless instrumentation. It’s honestly insane how catchy this song is and how much it’ll grow on you.

So whether you’re looking for a quick pick me up or your new gym pumping anthem, go ahead and give this a spin and let us know what you think. Don’t forget to subscribe and enjoy!

Love this? Check out their debut single here.

WHAT THE ARTIST HAS TO SAY:

“When We Were Gold” is like a nostalgic postcard from golden times. You know how old memories often fade, until only the shimmer is what’s left? That’s what we wanted to capture”

“The song - which actually was written on a grand piano in a large, empty concert hall - is inspired by late 90’s and early 00’s sounds, acts like Faithless. We wanted to embody that nostalgic vibe with trance-like influences and an energetic dance atmosphere.”

Gut Feeling, a song by Peter Bjorn and John on Spotify

Listen to Peter Bjorn and John's 'Gut Feeling' + New album Oct. 19th

September 26, 2018 by Gems Secrets in Indie, Indie Pop

This brand new track from Peter Bjorn and John is without-a-doubt some of their best work yet. Titled ‘Gut Feeling’, the new release—accompanied with 2 others—follows the announcement of their forthcoming studio album ‘Darker Days’, due October 19th, via INGRID.

The story of “Gut Feeling” begins at the first gig in the US after our last album, Breakin’ Point. Backstage in the club in Nashville I was waiting for soundcheck and started writing what was to become “Gut Feeling,” the words came subconsciously: “I think we need to talk about it, if we don’t wanna live without it.” We actually did talk on that tour, and conflicts were resolved. It all became fun again. - Bjorn

Formed in Stockholm in 1999, Peter Bjorn and John are perhaps best known for their timeless 2006 hit ‘Young Folks’. Since launching their artist collective and record label INGRID. ‘Gut Feeling’ is a catchy riff driven drum-oriented pop song with a bright and playful color pallet. We really enjoyed the instrumentation and the message behind the song.

Overall, if you’re looking for something to brighten up your day, you’ve come to the right place. Don’t forget to subscribe and enjoy!

Gems & Secrets is here to serve the creative minds that make this world a better place. Visually and sonically, we strive when we find someone who really goes above and beyond with their craft.

Today, we’re thrilled to share part 1 of recording artist Clay Dub’s short film series. The series explores a story filled with twists and highlights some of Clay’s impressive lyrical style and catchy delivery.

WHAT THE ARTIST HAS TO SAY:

“My idea for this was simple—traditionally, people score films with music.  Well I wanted to try something different and score music with a film (not just a music video).  So, I took 3 songs that have ENTIRELY nothing to do with one another and wrote a 3-part story to it. I hope people enjoy it even a quarter as much as I enjoyed creating.” – Clay Dub

We're obsessed with this new Hodgy & Alvin Risk project 'HA'—Listen to their brand new single 'O.P.E.N.' here

September 24, 2018 by Gems Secrets in Hip-Hop, Electronic

WHAT WE HAVE TO SAY:

So it’s worth mentioning we were really excited to see Alvin Risk’s name pop up on our timeline last week. We were following the artist back in 2012 and sorta lost contact as we were preoccupied with other matters.. but nonetheless, it was a big deal when we saw the producer was teaming up with lyricist and hip-hop artist Hodgy. Their new collaborative project titled ‘HA’ explores a fun and catchy nu-hip-hop/R&B styled track with a creative direction worth your attention.

In contrast, it’s a pretty big difference from what Alvin was creating back in the day but the blend of styles from the two artist’s are unmatched. It’s an exciting new project with a really great sound and we can’t wait to see where the project goes in the coming months. If you like the new track, be sure to subscribe, like, and enjoy!

How epic is this B Wise music video for 'The Code'? (feat. Anfa Rose)

September 24, 2018 by Gems Secrets in Hip-Hop, Rap

WHAT WE HAVE TO SAY:

Rising Australian hip-hop artist B Wise, released their debut album ‘Area Famous’ recently and we had the pleasure of checking it out… spoiler alert, it’s absolutely brilliant.

After have already toured all of Australia with popular well-known artists such as, Schoolboy Q, G-Eazy, Freddie Gibbs and Yelawolf.. the release of the artist’s debut album is naturally a giant step forward.

In his first visual for his collab with Anfa Rose, ‘The Code’, the release breaks down the artist’s impressive lyrical skill and jaw-dropping visual direction B Wise is bringing to the table.

Regardless of your hip-hop style of choice, ‘The Code’ is guaranteed to hype up your day due to it’s high octane production and exhilarating vocal style that’s both catchy and relatable.

‘The Code’ is a great break from the sounds of auto-tune and cloud rappers and it’s great to see and hear a fresh sound coming out of Sydney.

Go ahead and check out some of B Wise’s most recent work on Spotify and don’t forget to subscribe. Enjoy!

WHAT THE ARTIST HAS TO SAY:

"Exploring the concepts of unspoken honour codes and standing firm in the face of any challenge, we created a narrative that detailed a loyalty through thick and thin. The desolate landscape throughout the clip represents this, showing that even when you are left with nothing, you still have your day ones"
