Formally known as SHY Nodi, Nirob Islam has consistently written some of our favorite tracks from over the years. The 26-year-old Swedish artist has even penned songs for The Chainsmoker’s ‘All We Know’ as well as NOTD’s ‘I Wanna Know’ and ‘The Ocean’ by Mike Perry and SHY Martin. So, when his new single ‘Westside’ came out, we knew we were in for a real treat.
‘Westside’ was inspired by the struggles, success and overall journey that I’ve had with my best friend and writing partner over the past few years. I found it funny how self-doubt, disbelief and an overall lack of confidence are always present, no matter what level of success you can have creatively. Working with music is a double-edged sword where self expression and your emotions can be valued simply by what other people think. With those things in mind, I just wanted to make a song where I show appreciation to what I have and the people around me, and also to remind people not to overthink things too much’ - Nirob Islam.
Whether you’re a fan of pop, electro, or R&B… Nirob Islam’s ‘Westside’ is a must-hear by all and does an excellent job at showcasing Nirob’s infectiously catchy writing style. It’s relatable, creative, and bright… but more importantly, it’s always written from a genuine place.
