WHAT WE HAVE TO SAY:

Draped in dreamy synths and gritty bass-lines, "Your Friends Like Me Better", is the summer bop we all need this year. Written and performed by internet sensation WRENN, the new single touches on the artist’s quarantine boo:

"Did anyone else get super obsessed with one person over quarantine and pictured a whole future with them but then they ended things right as the world is going back to normal? Or is that just me?...". — WRENN

Following her viral Tik-Tok success and already backed by platforms such as The FADER and Billboard, WRENN comes strongly into 2021 with a powerful voice. It’s safe to say we’re already looking forward to hearing more from the artist in the coming months. In the mean time, don’t forget to connect with WRENN online and enjoy!

Watch the new music video for Argonaut & Wasp's "Dog Days" here (New

May 13, 2021 by Gems Secrets in Alternative, Indie, Electronic

Listen to this song in our official Spotify playlist:

‘Discovering The Undiscovered’

WHAT WE HAVE TO SAY:

Argonaut & Wasp released their debut album “STARLIGHT 99” earlier this month and if you haven’t checked it out yet, you’re seriously missing out. The 15-track album covers some of the best indie-electronic records we’ve heard in years. Not only does it showcase the best of the best of the band’s work but it highlights the incredible journey these guys have endured. Here’s what they have to say about the new album:

"We formed Argonaut & Wasp over a love for house/dance music while living in Burlington, VT. We were part of a thriving jam scene, but we never really fit in. When we moved to Brooklyn in 2015, we found inspiration from the city itself and the different vibrant scenes within it. Our sound has developed into something that combines the rhythm and energy from house music, takes cues from the jam/funk scene, and incorporates our love for the 'leave everything on the table' attitude of NYC.

This album was written (for the most part) during lockdown which allowed us some time to reflect and take a break from the grind of shows & touring. We named it STARLIGHT 99 since the album is about looking up and seeing beyond your world; to not only see the bigger picture but to become a part of it. As we go through paradigm shifts in our culture and environment - we hope this album can offer a liberating perspective to guide our listeners into our collective new & unprecedented future. We wrote 99 songs, these are the 15 that made it.

Drawing on musical inspiration across decades - 70s rock n roll, 80s synths, 90s-2000's house - we picked out our favorite parts & added some Brooklyn, NYC flair to create our first truly cohesive body of work and debut album. This album is Argonaut & Wasp."

Accompanying the new album is a music video for “Dog Days” and could only be described as nostalgic and dreamy. We decided to feature it at the top but we strongly encourage you to check out the rest of the album here. All-in-all, we’re confident you’re going to love “STARLIGHT 99” just as much as we do. Don’t forget to connect with the band online to stay up to date and enjoy!

Stream the latest from What So Not and DMA'S here, "The Change" out now

May 07, 2021 by Toby Boston in EDM, Electronic

Listen to this song in our official Spotify playlist:

‘Discovering The Undiscovered’

WHAT WE HAVE TO SAY:

Visionary producer What So Not returns after a year-long hiatus with “The Change”, an exciting collaboration with fellow Australian artists DMA’S. The new single incorporates dashes of rock mixed with classic electronic sound palettes made popular by artists like; The Chemical Brothers, The Prodigy, and Underworld.

What So Not says: “I met Johnny at their studio - a small room next to a noisy inner-city road, above a pub, with no sound insulation. We (somehow) never met but clicked instantly, discussing life on the road, COVID & found commonality on our all-time favourite artists. The first thing we made is pretty much the track you hear. Johnny liked our little idea so much he decided to get the whole band involved & a couple of days later we tracked Tommy & brought Mason in for some extra pieces. I feel like this record is one the two of us have always wanted to make but never had the right pieces of the puzzle, until now.”

2018's “Not All the Beautiful Things” reaffirmed What So Not’s place as one of the most ambitious producers in the game. Today, “The Change” marks a new chapter for the artist and we’re thrilled to have the opportunity just to experience it. What So Not has solidified his role as an innovative producer, bold creative, and a powerhouse of influence within the scene. And it’s safe to say we’re looking forward to hearing more from the artist in the coming months. Until then, don’t forget to connect with What So Not online to stay up to date and enjoy!

Watch the official music video for Essy's "Cry For Me" here

May 07, 2021 by Toby Boston in Pop

Listen to this song in our official Spotify playlist:

‘Discovering The Undiscovered’

WHAT WE HAVE TO SAY:

Producer and singer/songwriter, Essy, is kicking off her solo career with a proper bang. Her new single, “Cry For Me” features melodic, dreamy synths and jazzy, 80’s themed production. It’s both captivating and unique which mostly speaks to the true potential of the talented musician and what we can expect to hear more of in the coming months.

"This album is about revival. During isolation, I spent nights by my childhood piano reconnecting the dots to my own story and picking up pieces of myself I let fall behind. It was both grounding and terrifying, and induced a six-piece sonic journey that twists and turns through states of awakeness, anger, nostalgia, and sadness. All of these songs are emotional states I experienced that led to me to discover a better version of myself. I am immensely proud of this album. It's a piece of work that has both challenged me and allowed me to grow as a writer and producer." — Essy

Essy co-wrote and produced the album alongside Johnluke Lewis (LANY). Accompanying the new single is a music video for your viewing pleasure. Check it out for yourself and let us know what you think down below. Don’t forget to connect with Essy online to stay up to date and enjoy!
