What we're watching: Your weekly movie and TV roundup (1.25.19)
Movies:
You Were Never Really Here (2018): Directed by Lynne Ramsay, YWNRH was a fantastic film. I would argue that this will go down at one of Joaquin Phoenix’s best roles. The film has a great way of giving you enough information while at the same time leaving much of it up to audience interpretation. Watch it with someone so you can chat about it after!
About Time (2013): I think I’m late to the game, but after being recommended this earlier this week, I can now recommend it to you. It’s a sweet love story about a man who can travel in time, something we all wish we could do. This gives 500 Days of Summer a run for it’s money as my favorite romantic comedy.
Craig’s Pathetic Freakout (2018): I stumbled across this short film last week and didn’t know what to expect. Craig probably shouldn’t smoke weed.
TV:
Brockmire: “After a sportscaster destroys his career on air, he comes back a decade later calling games for a small town baseball team.” I was really excited to check this out since I’m a huge fan of Hank Azaria. IFC always has great comedies and I feel like they don’t get the attention they deserve.
Black Mirror: Bandersnatch: Technically the length of a movie, technically a tv show, but technically the coolest thing I’ve seen in a while. The interactive element is super rad and reminds me of the old choose-your-own adventure books I used to read as a young boy. Worth checking out even if you’re new to Black Mirror!
Sex Education: I’m a few episodes in and I’m very excited to watch the rest of it this week. The character’s are great and reminds me a lot of End of the F***ing World. If you’re scared of nudity, you probably won’t like it.
