Ruben Young has some bad habits

We've been eager to share this gem with you. "Bad Habits" is a modern - vintage soul summer jam by Canadian R&B artist Ruben Young, and produced by Canadian hip hop legend, Classified. The third single of Ruben's breakout year features his trademark raspy vocals, a nostalgic soul/hip hop groove, and a deadly hook.

Coming off of a huge summer of opening for The Chainsmokers, Akon and Classified, Ruben is excited to release the title single from his upcoming record, "The Bad Habits EP"

"Bad Habits" is an ode to the vices - to the temptation, the lust, and the games we can't kick.
"I wrote it in the fall of 2015, following my "relapse" for a girl I'd been chasing since I was 16 years old. She's never been good for me, and I've known it all along. We kept our 'relationship' a secret, and it became more of an affair. She was my forbidden secret - my bad habit. 7 years later, it all came crashing down. I think everyone's guilty of falling for someone who they couldn't get over; even though they knew they needed to. For me, she was dangerous, and I loved that about her."

After reaching the Hype Machine top 10, the iTunes Canada Pop top 30, the iTunes Electronic top 4, Spotify Canada's Viral 50 top 12, and streaming over 1 million times between his last two singles, "Take Her Down" and "Running For You", Ruben will be building on his momentum this summer as he takes "Bad Habits" to Canadian radio August.

Classified, multi-platinum selling, JUNO award winning artist, producer and writer has helped build the careers of emerging Canadian artists such as Ria Mae and David Myles. His notorious catchy soul/hip hop vibes have reached #1 on the Canadian Album Chart, and as high as #5 on the Canadian Hot 100 with the 4x Platinum "Inner Ninja". He co-wrote and produced "Bad Habits", and performed it live with Ruben at the Calgary Stampede in July.

KINDER releases "Heartless"

London-based KINDER holds a mirror up to modern society on new single ‘Heartless’, marking the second release through his own newly formed label, Lapsang House. The moniker of singer-songwriter Leo Wyatt, no time has been wasted since the success of title track ‘Feeling Gets Too Heavy’, and with an EP slated for release on 28th July, the new cut is a welcome reminder of KINDER’s prolific output. The young producer garnered strong support towards the end of 2016 from Amazing Radio, BBC Introducing and in the form of over 65,000 Spotify streams in a single day for the first single, making his way into the Global Viral 50. With brand new material to whet a collective appetite, it won’t be long before this multi-instrumentalist is making even more sizeable waves.

‘Heartless’ was the first song to be written for the new EP and shaped the direction KINDER’s second release would be taking, both musically and lyrically. The track’s message is something that’s been felt by many in recent years as we helplessly watch scenes of poverty and suffering through a small screen that only distances us further from reality. Leo explains how he ‘was very affected by the stories of refugees dying whilst trying to find a better life, but I felt there was nothing I could do except watch. Modern society is built in such a way that we just watch bad things happen and then wonder why they don’t get better.’ Pared down to a hard-hitting beat and Leo’s soulful croon, the words paint a striking picture of this senseless disregard for basic human rights.

Petrie, the alternative pop duo that you need to know about

Petrie - the alt-pop duo consisting of George and Better Laurence, two friends from Hertfordshire, distinctly British and seemingly intent on pushing songwriting boundaries to their limits.

‘Late Night’ mixes the raw sounds of hip-hop and grunge with startling tropes of the top 40, almost as if the narrator and his lover are fighting over the aux cable.

Brash guitars and lurching beats are combined with ear-grabbing synth melodies and sugary vocal hooks.

BlackGummy releases EP "Monolith"

BlackGummy is neither person nor thing; it is an entity that was first born when Los Angeles-based producer Iman Marouf discovered BlackGummy during a trip to Asia and the Middle East. The man and the idol instantaneously became intertwined to the point that each was an extension of the other, and BlackGummy as we know him was created. The reclusive entity rarely leaves his home, where he produces long into the night, except on occasion to perform at venues for his legion of fans and to search the globe for additional clues as to BlackGummy’s origin. His most recent discovery was the Latin inscription "In perpetuum, salutem in omnibus locis; In omni loco, in omni tempore." Rest assured, the search is not over, and thus neither is BlackGummy’s musical journey.
