"We've had this remix made for a very long time and were convinced it was no good. Recently we played it at one of our shows and the crowd went wild. We immediately realized we had fallen into the trap of convincing ourselves it was bad when in fact it's one of the best tracks we've made to date. We had turned away from making future bass lately and this track fell behind but after that show we knew it had to be released."

We can't get enough of this new Megan Lilly. Her voice is beautiful and upon hearing her latest work "Tainted Rosewater" --- we're eager to hear more from the singer. We don't know much about he artist but we hope to learn everything we need to in the coming months. Hopefully we won't have to wait long to hear more! Pop with attitude isn’t hard to find these days, but pop with honesty and attitude is like gold dust. Today rising Norwegian talent Fanny Andersen releases ‘Not A Toy’, her first single on new Norwegian label CoCo&Co. Working with renowned female producer Kito (Diplo, Skream), ‘Not A Toy’ is an anthem about “players”. Fanny told The Fader: “Not A Toy is about a relationship that isn't working – where the guy isn't treating the girl right. So many of my friends, and myself, have been in relationships like this, and I just felt like I've had enough!” Andersen is vulnerable in her lyrics and an artist of contrast and layers; being honest about mental health and sexuality but writing completely addictive, glorious pop songs.
Based in Oslo and coming not from a musical family, but one where her mother was an actress and stand-up comic, the young Andersen seemed set for the stage after playing Annie in a school production, and making the teacher (who hated her) cry. ‘Not A Toy’ is a first indicator of Fanny’s ruthless honesty and solid notion to female comradery, layered over complex pop production, with collaborations to come from the likes of Danny L Harle. Norway has produced another pop force in waiting.

Can you believe this is FIKA's debut single? Having formed in June 2017. The South London duo made up of Sam Hutton & Al Wreaves share "Wide Eyed". Sam & Al co-write & produce all their own music out of their self-dubbed “Studio Blue” in South London.
FIKA released their first track, “Wide Eyed” earlier this week and is available to stream/buy on all major platforms. They tell us they're keen to keep the momentum up and plan to drop a tune every 4-6 weeks until they have enough songs to take their set live. They’ll also be packaging everything up into an EP at the end of the year. So I guess its safe to say we'll have plenty of FIKA music soon. Well to kick off your Saturday morning we have something a little different. Charlie Curtis-Beard is a Chicago based rapper debuting his second single off his upcoming LP, Existentialism On Lake Shore Drive (XOlsd for short). Along with the single is a La La Land inspired music video created by Reed Carson, Darren Bui, and Charlie himself. It's fun, catchy, and speaks to the topic of interracial dating with tongue in cheek lyricism. Hence the name, "Fried Chicken." We love and cherish Charlie's creative vision and we're looking forward to hearing more from the artist in the coming months. Enjoy!
