April 03, 2019 by Gems Secrets in Electronic, Bedroom Pop

WHAT WE HAVE TO SAY:

Vera Hotsauce released their catchy new single last week and if you haven’t checked it out yet, you’re missing out. The artist’s writing style is fun and easy to listen to but what really grabbed us was the artist’s infectiously care-free attitude. The production and instrumental carry a heavy influence of hip-hop and gritty electronic elements creating an enjoyable experience from start to finish. We really enjoy what Vera is doing and we look forward to hearing more in the coming months. Till then, give this a spin and enjoy!

WHAT THE ARTIST HAS TO SAY:

”The song is about friends who act weird and strange and never really stood by you or supported you in any way. However at last you find your main person who you can always turn to and who is your ride or die for life.” â€” Vera Hotsauce

April 01, 2019 by Gems Secrets in Contemporary R&B, Indie

WHAT WE HAVE TO SAY:

Cautious Clay released ‘Table Of Context’ late last week and we took the weekend to dig through it and the 6-track EP lives up to all the hype. In fact, it’s actually quite difficult to pick a favorite out of the bunch. Cautious Clay has such a powerful and genuine writing style you begin to fall in love with each and every track for a variety of reasons. The lyrics, the instrumentation, the performance.. etc.

The EP is mostly Clay but it does feature a single with UMI and if you only have time to listen to one, we recommend you start with that. We can’t stress enough how much we love this project and we look forward to hearing more from the talented musician in the coming months. Don’t forget to subscribe to Clay online to stay up to date on any upcoming shows and enjoy!

WHAT THE ARTIST HAS TO SAY:

"Table of Context is about exploring the relationship between purpose and happiness and is kind of a self-reflection on all of the relationships and life experiences I've been through so far. More literally the title also refers to the actual desk (shown on the EP cover) that I've made all of my music at so far and how it's a physical context of my work." — Cautious Clay

Also, it’s going through the process of coming to terms with my bipolar disorder. I really shifted into knowing myself. I feel it really shows in the songs. I’m excited for everyone to hear them, because they truly tell my story for the first time.” — Kailee Morgue

Twitch, a song by Katie Buchanan on Spotify

Katie Buchanan's 'Twitch' is one of the best songs you'll hear today

March 27, 2019 by Gems Secrets in Indie

WHAT WE HAVE TO SAY:

Every once in awhile an artist lands on our radar that absolutely blows our mind. This time, that certain someone is Katie Buchanan. Her latest is a work of art, titled ‘Twitch’, we immediately fall in love with the guitar melody. As a writer, performer, producer, and guitarist
Katie is a multi-talented artist to her core. The lyrical depth behind her music is pure magic. It’s heartfelt, it’s genuine, and it demands your attention in ways you never thought possible.

We can’t stress enough just how much we love this song and we know you will too once you give it a shot. Add it to your Spotify playlist and be sure to give the artist a follow to stay up to date on any upcoming shows/releases and enjoy!

WHAT THE ARTIST HAS TO SAY:

""Twitch" is about the kind of anxiety that keeps you up all night, the wordless worries and the fights you forget to have, the teeth grinding insomnia that requires an appointment with your dentist.

As a writer, I wanted to pair jam-packed, twisted lyrics to a cyclical, meditative guitar line: the same way the most dense thoughts fly through your head in the stillest of hours. And as a producer, I wanted to stretch the concept of a guitar-loop pop song: the "loop" here is played live in one take, the instrumental break lives somewhere between melodic synth and brash guitar solo, the drums are both bombastic and contained.

In the end though, "Twitch" is a handful of snapshots: the nights you can't sleep, the days you can't fight, and the space in between when you realize that sometimes that's okay." —

Free Boy, a song by Restless Modern on Spotify

Have you listened to Restless Modern's 'Free Boy' yet?

March 27, 2019 by Gems Secrets in Electronic

WHAT WE HAVE TO SAY:

Restless Modern is back with a new single and we LOVE it. We’ve been fans of the artist for awhile now and with every new release, we become more and more obsessed... and for good reason. The instrumental features a calming yet unique soundscape (pay attention to the sound effects throughout the track) and the vocal performance brings it all together.

With every listen you’ll hear/feel something different and thats why this particular release sticks out to us. In a world where artists strive to all sound the same, Restless Modern stands out. Don’t forget to subscribe to the artist online to stay up to date on any upcoming releases and enjoy!

WHAT THE ARTIST HAS TO SAY:

"Free Boy is more about who I am than what I'm feeling, which is a new sort of motif for me. The main anchor of the song is a really solid group of friends that I've had since just before high school, and (along with my long-term girlfriend) they've been a major support system for me throughout everything. It's almost a somber thank you and promise of future time together with some other elements brought in for context"
