Saint Rock's 'Hot Mess' is now streaming!

January 02, 2020 by Gems Secrets

WHAT WE HAVE TO SAY:

We love Saint Rock’s upbeat attitude and creative style. With their latest release—titled ‘Hot Mess’—the electro-pop production brings together a care-free and exciting new sound that we simply can’t get enough of.

It’s laid-back, it’s fun, but most importantly… it’s infectiously catchy. We don’t know a lot about the artist (there’s some info online about the group possibly being a collective but we can’t confirm due to the lack of information provided) but we’re hoping that Saint Rock continues to share and release music within the coming months.

It’s ‘Fucking Retrograde’ and Xelli Island isn’t having any of it

December 19, 2019 by Gems Secrets in Bedroom Pop, Experimental, Electronic, Indie

Listen to this song in our official Spotify playlist:

‘Discovering The Undiscovered’

WHAT WE HAVE TO SAY:

Xelli Island is the latest and greatest to land on our radar. The talented and creative musician is taking on a fresh and laid-back sound that we can’t get enough of. With her new single ‘Fucking Retrograde’, Xelli delivers an experimental psychedelic experience with strong themes surrounding the frustrations tied to mercury being in retrograde. Huge props to Xelli for writing something so original and fun, right?

I think we all want to blame something bigger than ourselves when we feel regret. Writing "Fucking Retrograde" was a way for me to cope with an unexpected wave of unprocessed emotions that hit me extremely hard last summer, when my car was broken down for almost two months. I was walking everywhere in the middle of an LA summer, Mercury was in retrograde, and it felt like the longest couple months of my life. I was finally facing the truth about decisions I made a while back, in the fog of change. — Xelli Island

We have high hopes for Xelli’s future material. In our honest opinion, she’s bringing something interesting and genuine to the table and that’s all we could ever ask for. If you’re looking for a creative spirit from the inside out, Xelli’s ‘Fucking Retrograde’ should be right up your alley.

WHAT THE ARTISTS HAVE TO SAY:

Zack Martino: “Making this record was a really unique process. After producing four different versions,I feel like this one represents my direction as an artist the most. The dark ambiance of the record worked so well with Lenii’sstoryline, which really brought the vision to life.”

Lenii: “I wrote the first verse of ‘Crave U’in Ireland when I was 15. A few years later, when I moved to New York, a mutual friend sent over Zack’s instrumental and his dark production just fit the lyrics perfectly. This was a very unique process because even though we both live in New York, the final version was made in Amsterdam over facetime. I'm very excited that it's finally out.”
