With her new single ‘Fucking Retrograde’, Xelli delivers an experimental psychedelic experience with strong themes surrounding the frustrations tied to mercury being in retrograde. Huge props to Xelli for writing something so original and fun, right?

I think we all want to blame something bigger than ourselves when we feel regret. Writing "Fucking Retrograde" was a way for me to cope with an unexpected wave of unprocessed emotions that hit me extremely hard last summer, when my car was broken down for almost two months. I was walking everywhere in the middle of an LA summer, Mercury was in retrograde, and it felt like the longest couple months of my life. Zack Martino: “Making this record was a really unique process. After producing four different versions,I feel like this one represents my direction as an artist the most. The dark ambiance of the record worked so well with Lenii’sstoryline, which really brought the vision to life.”

Lenii: “I wrote the first verse of ‘Crave U’in Ireland when I was 15. A few years later, when I moved to New York, a mutual friend sent over Zack’s instrumental and his dark production just fit the lyrics perfectly. This was a very unique process because even though we both live in New York, the final version was made in Amsterdam over facetime. I'm very excited that it's finally out.”
