Daniella Mason shares video for new song "Cruel Summer"
We love Daniella Mason. We love her creative vision, her voice, and for many - Mason is best known for her mainstream pop successes— she's penned Nick Jonas singles, toured with Demi Lovato, opened for DNCE, and has even had her own tracks dubbed "What's Hot" by iTunes— but don't let that fool you. Hailed by The Guardian as "a serious musician with a distinctly pop edge," Mason's impeccable artistry, distinct powerhouse vocals, and innate songwriting sensibilities ride a fine line between top 40 earworms and tastemaker tuneage that even the most savvy of audiophiles can get into.

"The coolest thing about filming this was that the storyline of the video was playing out in real time as we were shooting," she told PopCrush. "This summer has been hard for me just because I've been taking on a whole new season in my career and life and doing a lot of it by myself... but the amazing part is, I've really had to rely and lean on the incredible women in my life in a new way. They’ve been such a great support… cheering me up at every turn and coming alongside me to shoulder my vision. That was exactly the story in this video, both onscreen and off. The director, Bree, and I dreamt of having an all female cast and crew on set for this video, and because I'm surrounded by wonderful, talented, and generous women, we were able to make our dream come true. It was basically just me hanging out and making art with my gal pals all day, and I couldn't ask for a better situation to cheer me up and make me feel more powerful and supported."
